Leeds United travel to Dublin on Wednesday to face rivals Manchester United at Croke Park, in the first ever club-football match to be played at the historic Gaelic games venue.
The Whites head into the friendly on the back of a strong summer, having beaten Bundesliga side RB Leipzig at Elland Road in a match played in two 60-minute halves, with goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha securing the win. Leeds also toured the United States, facing Wrexham, Sunderland and Liverpool, including an impressive 4-2 comeback win over Liverpool after trailing by two goals at half-time.
Leeds took four points off Manchester United last season: a draw at Elland Road, in which Brenden Aaronson opened the scoring before a quick Manchester United response levelled things up, followed by a 2-1 win at Old Trafford, Leeds’s first away league win at the ground in 45 years. Noah Okafor’s brace gave Leeds a 2-0 half-time lead, with Manchester United’s second-half response not enough to prevent the win.
Kick-off in Dublin is at 7:30pm. The match will be shown live on LUTV for £5, available worldwide except in the Republic of Ireland, with commentary from Bryn Law and former Leeds defender Tony Dorigo.
