Emmerdale’s Olivia Bromley joins Middlesbrough Theatre panto Aladdin

Emmerdale actress Olivia Bromley has joined the cast of this year’s Middlesbrough Theatre pantomime, Aladdin, staged in association with Extravaganza Productions Ltd, taking on the role of The Fairy of the Ring.

Bromley spent eight years playing series regular Dawn Taylor on the ITV soap, and trained at the Oxford School of Drama, with previous stage credits including the National Theatre Riverside, the Royal Festival Hall, Soho Theatre and the Bush Theatre.

She said: “I can’t wait to join the brilliant company of Aladdin and have a really fun Christmas – it’ll be quite the contrast from the explosive and traumatic soap storyline I’ve just played! I’m so looking forward to it.”

Family favourite

Kesia Bruce, Middlesbrough Council’s Strategic Venues Manager, said: “We’re delighted to be bringing another fantastic pantomime to audiences across Teesside this year. Aladdin is a much-loved family favourite, and with a talented cast, spectacular production values and plenty of festive magic, we know it will be a truly memorable experience. We’re especially thrilled to welcome Olivia Bromley to the production, and we look forward to seeing audiences of all ages enjoy what will be a wonderful show.”

She joins a cast including Philip Green, back for an eighth consecutive year as Wishee Washee; Paul Hawkyard (Coronation Street, All Creatures Great and Small) as villain Abanazar; Robert Laughlin as Widow Twanky; Sol Nicholson in the title role; Morgan Hughes as Princess Balroubadour; and Steven Yallop as the Emperor of China, with the story following Aladdin’s efforts to win the Princess’s hand while outwitting Abanazar.

Aladdin runs from Saturday 5 to Thursday 31 December at Middlesbrough Theatre, The Avenue, Middlesbrough TS5 6SA, with a signed performance on Thursday 17 December at 7pm and a relaxed performance on Tuesday 22 December at 2pm.

Tickets cost £26 for adults, £25 for under-16s, £72 for a family of three and £96 for a family of four (all including a £1.60 booking fee), with early booking advised given limited availability — call the Box Office on 01642 81 51 81.
