Yorkshire Mafia’s next Leeds Business Social takes place at The Banksia, Hotel Indigo, on Thursday 24 September, from 5pm until late, with a welcome drink for arriving guests.
Founded in 2008, Yorkshire Mafia bills itself as one of the UK’s longest-running independent business communities, bringing together founders, business owners, senior leaders and professionals from across the region for more than 17 years. The Business Social format is deliberately low-key, an evening of conversation aimed at building genuine connections, whether attendees are growing a business, looking to expand their contacts, or simply want to catch up with others in Yorkshire’s business scene.
Members and guests are both welcome, and organisers say the events typically draw an audience where 87% of attendees are decision-makers within their organisation.
Busy diary
Behind the scenes, founder Geoff Shepherd has been gathering ideas for how to grow the organisation through 2026. In a recent newsletter, Shepherd said he’d asked members for input on how to build Yorkshire Mafia and “10X the membership,” describing an enthusiastic response that’s kept his diary busy.
He’s now inviting further contact from people with ambitious plans, saying he wants to talk to “people with big ideas and to the people capable of making them real,” along with investors.
Shepherd said he wants to hear a pitch that initially sounds completely unreasonable, only to find himself, six months on, wondering how it actually got built. He signed off hinting that bigger changes for the organisation are on the way, without yet giving further detail.
