West Yorkshire Police is reminding motorists that temporary traffic restrictions will be in place around the Leeds Festival site at Bramham Park from Wednesday 26 August until Monday 31 August.
The measures include temporary speed restrictions and clearways on roads surrounding the site, introduced to improve road safety, reduce congestion and help manage the safe movement of the tens of thousands of people expected to attend.
Speed camera enforcement vans will operate throughout the festival period, with police warning that any offences detected on the affected routes may result in prosecution.
Adequate signage will be in place to clearly inform drivers of all temporary restrictions and traffic management arrangements.
Significant increase in traffic
Superintendent Dan Wood said: “Leeds Festival is one of the largest events in West Yorkshire and attracts a significant increase in traffic to the local road network. The temporary speed restrictions and clearways are being introduced to help keep everyone safe, including festival-goers, local residents and road users.
“We would ask all motorists to pay close attention to the temporary signage in place and allow extra time for their journeys. Speed enforcement will be carried out during the event, and we encourage drivers to comply with all restrictions for their own safety and that of others.”
Festival attendees travelling by car are being urged to follow official event signage rather than relying solely on sat nav, which can direct drivers to unsuitable routes and cause unnecessary delays for themselves and other road users.
Dedicated routes will guide different categories of visitor — including camping entrances, day and non-camping ticket parking, drop-off and pick-up points, and staff and authorised vehicle access — to the correct locations.
West Yorkshire Police is encouraging everyone travelling to and from the festival to plan ahead, follow official signage and drive with care throughout the festival period.
