A £2,000 shopfront improvement grant has paid for a “complete makeover” at a Middlesbrough business centre, according to its co-director.
Rede House Business Space, on Corporation Road, is the latest venue to benefit from Middlesbrough Council’s shopfront improvement scheme, set up by Mayor Chris Cooke to help businesses improve the attractiveness and safety of their premises.
The centre, which offers short-term leases, office space, hot desking and daily room hire, has had its frontage redone in a new black theme with new signage. Co-director Lisa Devanny said: “The grant has made a real difference — it looks wonderful now.”
Devanny said the improvement, alongside other nearby businesses that have also had work done, is helping the area start to feel like a community in its own right.
Hair and beauty salons, bars and restaurants have also benefited from the scheme. Mayor Cooke said: “Bit by bit the grants are helping our town’s economy.”
